2024 Dahlia Photography Contest
Capture the vibrant beauty of dahlias at Bullington Gardens! We invite you to grab your phone, point and shoot camera or DSLR, and enter our Dahlia Photography Contest. Showcase your talent and creativity by capturing the stunning colors and intricate details of these beloved blooms.
Winners will be awarded in three categories; beginner, intermediate (enthusiast) and advanced and will be featured on our website and social media. Local photography judges will choose the winner in each category. Additionally, a People’s Choice award will be given based on votes from our Facebook community.
Entries must be submitted by October 7th, 2024. Winners will be announced October 12th, 2024. One photograph per entry. $20.00 per entry.
Advanced prize: $75.00
Intermediate: $50.00

People’s Choice: $25.00

Judging Criteria:
Composition and Framing (25%)
The arrangement of elements within the photo, including balance, use of space, and framing of the subject.
The photo should have a clear focal point and guide the viewer’s eye through the image.
Creativity and Originality (25%)
The photographer’s unique perspective or approach to capturing the dahlias.
Use of angles, lighting, or techniques that stand out and provide a fresh interpretation of the subject.
Technical Quality (20%)
Sharpness, clarity, and overall image quality, including appropriate exposure, focus, and depth of field.
Effective use of camera settings and equipment to enhance the final image.
Color and Lighting (20%)
The effective use of natural or artificial lighting to enhance the colors and mood of the photo.
Vibrancy and accuracy of colors, especially in capturing the richness and variety of the dahlia blooms.
Emotional Impact (10%)
The ability of the photograph to evoke emotion, tell a story, or convey a mood to the viewer.
