Happy Holidays!
Since August, the gardens have somewhat returned to normalcy, with students returning to in-person classes and our Fall Plant sale being held in person. Even though our holiday sale is a hybrid of in-person and virtual, 2021 had many momentous events.
As our year comes to a close, we look back at some of the things we’re losing and forward to things to be gained in 2022.
Farewell:
Bullington celebrated our 6th birthday as a non-profit, even though it has operated for 25 years before becoming a 501(C)3. With this 6th birthday comes the ending of the terms for 4 directors on our board. Mary Louise Corn, Patrice German, Bill Burdett, and Connie Smith have served two three-year terms and their contribution to Bullington over the last years has been invaluable.
Gaining:
A momentous gain for Bullington this year was the acquisition of the property from the Education Foundation. This ownership will allow us to invest in much-needed infrastructure, mainly parking and public bathrooms.
Another gain was the addition of Linda Patterson, who took on the care of the gardens and has taken on much of the greenhouse and plant propagation. She has an amazing knowledge of plants and a willingness to jump in and help in any situation, (including the making of the very popular Christmas gnome).
We’d also like to personally thank all of you who have consistently visited regularly; volunteered in some shape, form, or fashion; purchased plants or holiday gifts, or have been Friends of Bullington supporters. We look forward to a new 2022 and wish you a very joyous holiday season.
