Summer Fun
Our fairy door sponsorships: We’ve had great success with our fairy door sponsorships. Our major donor (Sorcerer Level), Wild Birds Unlimited will have an interactive fairy door that combines their love of birds with our mission of education. Our Wizard Level sponsors, Raymond’s Garden Center, Crystal Visions, Priscilla and Jerry Glasow, and Suzanne Wodek, will have interactive doors with messages inside. Enchanted Pixie Level sponsorships were by Betty Lockwood in recognition of the volunteers, Paula Delorenzo in memory of her daughter, Bonnie Mangold for her grandchildren’s summer visit, and Honeycutt’s Flowers. These doors will be installed in the therapy garden and will be opened by many little hands. They are being hand-crafted by Deb Daniel, Sandy Aycock, Jim Higgins, Becky Ledbetter, and Mary Martin.
Bullington will open a small gift shop with botanically inspired gifts, Bullington t-shirts, and seasonal plants. The hours of operation will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10-2 and it’ll be located in the headhouse from June through August. Special thanks go to Kyle Gilgis and Vickie Robertson for heading up this new project.
The first Fairy Market will be held on Saturday, June 11 and will feature face painting, Zen tangle art classes, and a gnome scavenger hunt.
Bullington was sponsored in the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville Bearfootin’ Art Walk by Jack and Beverly Maniscalco, Gayle Cinke, and Walt Slagle. We were so fortunate to have artist Judy Dempsey get inspiration from the very things that have made Bullington as she created this botanical bruin. ‘I Beg Your Garden’ bear showcases the late Brian Killingworth’s love of dahlias, as well as the magical fairies and the pollinators representing our new role in managing BeeCity Hendersonville. The bear can be viewed at 3rd Avenue and Main Street downtown, and the auction will be in October.
