My Favorite Sketchbook
Join Chad Alice Hagen, artist and veteran workshop teacher for an exciting new workshop!
There are sketchbooks and sketchbooks, but this particular adaptation of a Gary Frost design has become my favorite. It opens totally flat, it can be made from easy to find materials and features a textile cover! We’ll be making a 6″ x 6″ french link bound sketchbook in class with sewn boards and 120 pages of 98# multi-media paper. Once you make this book in class, you’ll know how to make larger or smaller versions with whatever paper you need. Class will fold and pierce signatures, stitch, glue, attach mull, and textile covers and spine… all the fabulous bits that go into making a well-made, useful and enjoyable sketchbook/journal.
All supplies and tools provided. Students can bring their own fabric for the cover if they wish. (Quilt weight cotton and cotton blends, 1/2 yard or 18” x 36” will be fine.) Chad Alice will also be bringing a box of fabric for all to use. Also bring a pair of sharp sewing scissors (will be used for both fabric and paper!) Workshop fee $70, plus $20 for materials.
